As Christians across Nigeria and the world commemorate Good Friday, aspirant for Ona-Ara State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Dr. Temitope Afolabi, has extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Ona-Ara, urging them to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, love, and selfless service which the solemn day represents. Good Friday in Nigeria this year falls on 4 April 2026.
In a statement released on Friday, Dr. Afolabi described Good Friday as a sacred moment for sober reflection on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for humanity, noting that the season should inspire leaders and citizens alike to work for peace, justice, and collective progress. The broader message of the day has also been echoed by religious leaders in Nigeria as a call for better leadership and a better society.
He said, “Good Friday reminds us of the supreme sacrifice made out of love for mankind. It is a powerful lesson in humility, service, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of others. As we reflect on this solemn occasion, I urge the good people of Ona-Ara to remain united, hopeful, and steadfast in our shared vision for a better future.”
Dr. Afolabi further emphasized that the lessons of Good Friday resonate deeply with his aspiration to serve the people of Ona-Ara, stressing that true leadership is rooted in sacrifice, compassion, and dedication to the needs of the grassroots.
According to him, his desire to represent the constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly is driven by a passion to bridge the gap between the people and government, while ensuring that the voices of the community are effectively heard in the corridors of power.
He also called on residents to use the Easter season as an opportunity to pray for peace, development, and continued progress in Ona-Ara Local Government, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large.
“This season should renew our faith in the possibility of a brighter tomorrow. Together, we can build a constituency where every voice matters and every community feels the impact of purposeful representation,” he added.
The aspirant reaffirmed his commitment to people-oriented legislation, youth empowerment, infrastructural development, and improved welfare for all constituents.
