Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has appointed Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole (Wolekanle) as his new Chief of Staff. He also approved the appointment of Mrs. Aderonke Adedayo as Director-General of the Due Process Office. The appointments were announced in letters signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.Bashorun Akinwole, a grassroots politician, previously served as Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission.

The 20 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) abducted along the Owerri-Onitsha expressway on Thursday, October 1, have been rescued. A security source confirmed to TheCable that the operation that led to the rescue was carried out by a joint team of operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS), military and the police. According to the source, the rescued corps members receiving medical attention at a DSS facility in Imo state.
