In yet another remarkable demonstration of empathy, compassion and genuine human feeling, the Lagelu Local Government Ward 1 Councillor, Hon. Bello Afeez Olanrewaju, has donated essential medical supplies to Alegongo Primary Health Centre in his ward, in a bid to strengthen healthcare delivery and support residents at the grassroots.
The intervention, which took place on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, saw the councillor provide drugs, testing materials, injections and other medical first-aid items needed by the health centre to attend to patients and respond more effectively to medical needs.
The gesture represents another practical demonstration of Hon. Bello Afeez Olanrewaju’s commitment to the welfare of his constituents, particularly residents who depend on primary healthcare facilities as their first point of contact with the healthcare system.
Speaking on the donation, Hon. Bello explained that his intervention was born out of personal observation, regular supervision and genuine concern for the people.
According to him, he has always visited the health centre not only to monitor its activities but also because he personally patronises the facility for medical treatment. During his visits, he takes time to observe how nurses and other health workers attend to patients and to understand the challenges confronting them in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He disclosed that during his most recent visit, the health workers highlighted some essential medical items that were in short supply and affecting their ability to serve residents effectively.
Rather than merely acknowledging the complaint, the Ward 1 Councillor said he made a commitment to address the situation—and true to his word, he returned with the needed supplies.
Hon. Bello stressed that leadership, in his understanding, goes beyond occupying a political office or making promises; it is about listening to the people, identifying their challenges and taking practical steps to provide solutions.
He further described the intervention as his modest contribution toward complementing the healthcare development efforts of the Lagelu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, and the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, particularly their efforts toward improving the wellbeing of residents at the grassroots.
The councillor’s intervention has been described as a reflection of leadership with a human face—one that does not wait for constituents to cry out before responding to their needs.
For residents of Ward 1, the gesture is more than a donation of drugs and medical materials; it is a message that their welfare matters and that their representative is paying attention.
At a time when effective grassroots representation is measured not only by legislative activities but also by responsiveness to the everyday needs of the people, Hon. Bello Afeez Olanrewaju’s latest intervention further underscores his determination to make his representation people-oriented, responsive and impactful.
From the council chamber to the health centre, Hon. Bello Afeez Olanrewaju continues to demonstrate that true representation is not just about speaking for the people—it is about standing with them when it matters most.
