The Lagelu Local Government on Sunday, 7th June, 2026, executed another round of its flagship Operation Show of Force, aimed at reinforcing security across the council area amid prevailing national security challenges.
The exercise which lasted for a range of several hours involved a massive joint security convoy that toured several communities in the local government area. The team departed from the Local Government Secretariat at Iyana Offa and moved through Offa Adedokun, Papa Town, Lamuyan, Ajipa, Alape, Elesu, Apatere, Oyedeji, Igbo Elerin, Sagbe/Pabiekun, Eleruko, Olosunde, Kutayi/Ogunremi, Olowode/Akintounwa, Ogburo Town, Lagun Town and several other local areas.
Speaking after the successful completion of the operation, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, disclosed that the council has adopted a robust and inclusive security model that has helped it maintain relative peace despite the spillover effects of national insecurity.
“Since the commencement of this initiative in December 2025, Operation Show of Force has served as a strong deterrent to criminal elements. Our security forces maintain constant and close contact with every community, town, village, religious centres, ‘omo adugbo’ (the street urchins), and all community-based groups across Lagelu, no matter how distant or remote,” the Chairman stated.
Hon. Kamorudeen further explained that the local security architecture being championed by his administration brings together the entire gamut of security apparatus operating within the local government area. These include the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service, Department of State Services (DSS), Operation Burst, Amotekun, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagelu Security Network (LSN), local hunters, Agbekoya, and several other conventional and non-conventional security operatives.
The Chairman noted that the exercise, which is held twice monthly, ensures visible policing and intelligence gathering across every nook and cranny of the local government.
He commended all security agencies and operatives for their dedication and seamless collaboration, while calling on residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible and timely information to security agencies.
