
Political leaders and stakeholders in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State, led by former Commissioner, Oribayo Okeyode, have expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, for endorsing Olajide Akintunde as the consensus candidate for the 2027 general election in Lagelu State Constituency.

The leaders, in a jointly signed statement made available to journalists on Friday, described Governor Makinde’s decision as a reflection of his confidence in the performance, loyalty, and grassroots connection of Hon. Akintunde, popularly known as AKT.

According to the group, the endorsement has further strengthened unity within the political structure in Lagelu Local Government and has reassured party members and supporters of continuity in quality representation at the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Speaking on behalf of the leaders, Okeyode commended Governor Makinde for what he described as a “visionary and people-oriented decision,” noting that AKT has consistently demonstrated commitment to the growth and development of Lagelu constituency through responsive representation and effective engagement with the people.

The leaders also noted that Hon. Akintunde’s endorsement as the consensus candidate was a product of extensive consultations among stakeholders, party leaders, youths, and community groups across the constituency.
They pledged their total support for Governor Makinde’s administration and reaffirmed their commitment to mobilizing massive support for AKT ahead of the 2027 general election.

The statement further urged members of the party and residents of Lagelu Local Government to remain united and continue supporting the administration of Governor Makinde, while working collectively for the success of the party in future elections.
They expressed optimism that the endorsement would further consolidate the achievements already recorded in the constituency and ensure continued dividends of democracy for the people of Lagelu.
