Hon. Olajide Akintunde, popularly known as AKT, representing Lagelu State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing unresolved internal conflicts within the party.
According to information made available to journalists, the resignation letter was dated May 3, 2026, and formally submitted to his ward party chairman on May 7, 2026.

In the letter, Hon. Akintunde expressed appreciation to party leaders, members, and supporters who stood by him throughout his political journey under the PDP, but noted that persistent internal disagreements and divisions within the party made it difficult for him to continue his political activities under the platform.

The lawmaker stated that his decision followed wide consultations with political associates, supporters, and stakeholders across Lagelu Local Government and beyond.

Although the lawmaker has yet to officially announce the political party he intends to join, sources close to him revealed that consultations are ongoing and a formal declaration may be made in the coming weeks.
