The Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, on Monday distributed brand new electric motorcycles to the 14 Ward Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the council area.
The electric motorcycles were procured and donated by Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, as part of a larger initiative to empower PDP ward leaders across all 33 Local Government Areas of the state, strengthening the party’s grassroots structure.
Speaking during the presentation at the Local Government Secretariat, Hon. Kamorudeen expressed profound gratitude to Governor Makinde for the thoughtful gesture, describing it as a clear demonstration of the governor’s commitment to the welfare of party faithful and effective grassroots mobilisation.
“These electric motorcycles represent more than just mobility aids; they are tools that will enable our ward chairmen to carry out their responsibilities more efficiently, especially in this era of rising fuel costs. We appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership and his unwavering support for the PDP at the ward level,” the Lagelu Council Chairman stated.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the motorcycles in serving the party and the people of Lagelu, while assuring them of continued support from the local government leadership.
The beneficiaries, in their remarks, lauded Governor Makinde for the donation, noting that the electric motorcycles would significantly reduce their operational costs and enhance their ability to engage effectively with party members and residents at the community level. They also highlighted the environmental benefits of the clean-energy initiative.
The distribution in Lagelu is part of a statewide exercise by Governor Makinde’s PDP, following similar presentations in other local government areas. It comes amid broader empowerment efforts by the Makinde administration, which recently included the procurement of brand new vehicles to Vice Chairmen and Councillors across the 33 LGAs.
Political observers view the move as a strategic step towards bolstering the ruling PDP’s presence ahead of future political engagements, while addressing practical challenges faced by party officials in discharging their duties.
