In a remarkable demonstration of responsive leadership and commitment to grassroots development, the Councillor representing Ward 1 in Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Bello Afeez Olanrewaju, has empowered no fewer than 50 beneficiaries, comprising widows and youths, with cash grants to support their businesses and improve their livelihoods.
The empowerment programme, held amidst excitement and appreciation from residents, was organized as part of Hon. Bello’s unwavering resolve to give back to the people of Ward 1 who entrusted him with the mandate to represent them at the local government legislative council.
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Bello stated that the initiative was designed to strengthen the grassroots economy, alleviate financial hardship, and encourage self-reliance among vulnerable members of the constituency, particularly widows and enterprising youths.
He emphasized that the welfare of his constituents remains a top priority, assuring the people that the empowerment programme is only one of several initiatives aimed at improving their standard of living.
The Ward 1 lawmaker expressed profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his people-oriented leadership and enabling environment for grassroots governance.
He also appreciated the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, for his visionary leadership and continuous support towards developmental initiatives within the local government.
Hon. Bello equally thanked the Member representing Lagelu State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olajide Akintunde (AKT), the Chairman of the Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA), Hon. Adetokunbo Abideen Adeaga, the Oyo State PDP Organizing Secretary, Alhaja Wulemotu Ibitoye, former Commissioner Alhaji Oribayo Okeyode, Baba Kehinde Fabunmi (Kenfab), and other prominent leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for their encouragement, mentorship, and unwavering support, which have provided him with the platform to serve his people effectively.
According to him, the achievements recorded so far are products of collective support and confidence reposed in his leadership, pledging not to relent in delivering quality representation to the people of Ward 1.
He reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining people-oriented programmes, promising more empowerment initiatives, infrastructural interventions, and welfare packages that will positively impact the lives of residents across the ward.
