IGBEGA OYO : More Than a Billboard Message

Oyo State House of Assembly speaker, Hon. Ogundoyin

By John Adeyemi

Across Ibadan and other major towns in Oyo State, a clear and deliberate message is beginning to define the conversation ahead of the 2027 governorship election. It is not hidden, and it is not subtle. It is boldly displayed on the billboards of Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin who has declared his intention to contest the forthcoming 2027 Governorship election in Oyo State. Visible across key locations in the State is IGBEGA OYO, OMITUTUN 3.0 billboards. The Speaker had earlier presented his roadmap before all the stakeholders of the PDP in Oyo State and going through the roadmap, he is promising More Jobs, Better Roads, and Safer Communities.

Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin for Governor, Oyo State

These billboards are not just for visibility, they are a signal of intent. They announce the arrival of a serious contender and a structured agenda. In a political environment often crowded with vague promises, this message stands out because it is direct, outcomedriven, and tied to the everyday realities of the people.

For too long, political messaging has thrived on ambiguity. That era is fading. People are no longer persuaded by slogans that lack substance. They want to know what government will do differently and how it will affect their lives. This is where IGBEGA OYO, OMITUTUN 3.0 draws its strength. It speaks in clear terms about jobs, roads, security issues that cut across class, geography, and political affiliation.

You will agree with me that, jobs are central because economic survival is central. The next phase of governance must go beyond temporary empowerment schemes and focus on building a system where businesses thrive, agriculture becomes more profitable, and young people can earn sustainably. From skills development to access to funding, the expectation is simple, more people working, more people earning.

Roads remain a critical lever for economic growth. Poor road networks isolate communities, inflate costs, and slow down development. Better roads mean faster movement, improved trade, and stronger integration of regions like OkeOgun and Ibarapa into the broader economic structure of the state. Infrastructure must serve the economy, not just political optics.

Security is the baseline. Without it, every other promise collapses. Safer communities mean confidence for investors, stability for families, and freedom for businesses to grow. It is not a luxury, it is a necessity.

What reinforces this message is the groundwork behind it. Engagements across all geopolitical zones of the state have not been ceremonial, they have been deliberate efforts to listen, understand, and align priorities with real needs. That approach reflects a shift from assumption driven governance to people centred planning.

At the same time, the current administration has laid a visible foundation in infrastructure, economic positioning, and governance structure. That progress is acknowledged. But governance is a continuum. The task ahead is to deepen those gains, address existing gaps, and expand development to areas that still feel left out.

This is the space IGBEGA OYO, OMITUTUN 3.0 occupies, continuity with purpose, expansion with clarity, and leadership with measurable outcomes.

However, beyond the message and the momentum, there is a political reality that must be confronted directly. Every voter in Oyo State, and indeed every member of the PDP family, must begin to see Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin for what he is, a serious aspirant, not a symbolic figure. A young politician, yes, but one whose exposure, legislative experience, and strategic positioning place him firmly in contention to lead.

Youth in leadership is no longer a gamble, it is increasingly a necessity. The demands of governance are evolving, and so must the profile of those who lead. Energy, adaptability, and a forward looking mindset are no longer optional qualities, they are essential.

But recognition must go beyond observation. It must translate into support, engagement, and alignment. Political success is not built on visibility alone, it is built on conviction among the people and consolidation within the party.

The billboards have done their job, they have introduced the message and signalled intent. What follows now is more important. The message must be tested, discussed, and ultimately owned by the people. Because once expectations are set this clearly, more jobs, better roads, safer communities, there is no room for ambiguity.

Only results will matter.
