The Honourable Member representing Lagelu State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly and the Party Whip of the House, Hon. Olajide Akintunde (AKT), has strongly debunked the false and malicious rumours currently making the rounds regarding an alleged secret meeting aimed at discussing the impeachment of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a statement made available to the press, Hon. AKT described as entirely false, baseless, and politically motivated the purported information claiming that he held a clandestine meeting with the wife of the former Governor of Oyo State, Madam Florence Abiola Ajimobi, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, and His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, over any matter relating to the impeachment of Governor Seyi Makinde.
He categorically stated that no such meeting ever took place, stressing that the rumour is a deliberate attempt by mischief makers to create unnecessary tension within the political landscape of Oyo State and tarnish his hard-earned reputation.
Hon. AKT further dismissed as unfounded the allegation that he received the sum of One Billion Naira from any individual or group in connection with the said false narrative.
“I wish to state unequivocally that I have neither attended any secret meeting with the personalities mentioned nor received any amount of money from anybody in relation to any purported plot against the Governor. The allegation is false, mischievous, and should be disregarded by the good people of Oyo State,” he said.
The lawmaker used the opportunity to reaffirm his unalloyed loyalty, respect, and unwavering support for His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, whose visionary leadership, commitment to good governance, and developmental strides continue to bring peace, growth, and stability to Oyo State.
According to him, the state remains stable under Governor Makinde’s purposeful administration, and there is no cause for alarm.
“I remain fully loyal to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde. We are proud of his exemplary leadership and the progress Oyo State has continued to witness under his watch. Our state is stable, peaceful, and focused on sustainable development,” Hon. AKT added.
He therefore urged members of the public, party faithful, and the media to disregard the rumour in its entirety and remain committed to supporting the present administration in its drive to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.
