As the scheduled November 16 Governorship election approaches in Ondo State , PDP had an electrifying display of political strength and people’s power as the PDP Campaign Train stormed Akoko North-West and Akoko North-East Local Government Areas yesterday.
Leading the charge was the Governor of Oyo State and the South West leader of the party, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde with the Governorship Candidate , H E (Barr.) Agboola Alfred Ajayi, alongside his running mate, Hon. Festus Akingbaso (FessyWest). The duo, accompanied by high-ranking party stakeholders, were met with an overwhelming reception that signals a turning point in the political landscape of Ondo State.
While speaking at the campaign ground at Okeagbe, the Governorship Candidate, harp on his agenda for the people which includes but not limited to free education from Primary School to Secondary School in the state as well as provision of adequate security that would stop incessant killings and kidnapping in the area which had made most people to abandon their farms in the area thus leading to shortage of provision of food crops in the area.
Corroborating the Governorship Candidate stand on his agenda for transformation in Ondo State , the leader of the party in the South West and Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde expressed confidence that Agboola Ajayi can not perform less in transforming Ondo State for better just like other PDP Governors in South West while he expressed the believe that the people of Ondo State will shock the APC with their massive votes for the PDP.
” I am very sure that the National Chairman of APC, Alhaji Ganduje and Governor Aiyedatiwa who have been saying APC would retain Ondo State and capture more states in the South West would be shocked with the turnout of votes for the PDP in this coming election because with what I have been seeing since the campaign begins, it really shows that the people of Ondo State are ready to chase APC away from Ondo State government house while PDP would have more states in the coming elections ” Gov Makinde expressed optimism.
In Ikare , while addressing the mammoth crowd at the cenotaph , Governor Makinde implored the people to protect their votes by all means because the APC are poised for rigging and causing distractions during this coming election stressing that it is very obvious that the people of Ondo State have rejected them and are just waiting to express it with their votes on Nov 16.
” Come en mass on Nov 16, cast your vote, stay with your vote, let them count it in your presence and announce the result from your unit and follow it to the collation center ” Oyo Governor admonished the people .
Earlier , in a show of respect for tradition, the campaign train paid homage to esteemed monarchs in the area including the Olukare of Ikare, the Owa Ale of Ikare, and the Owa of Ogbagi Akoko.
The royal welcome extended by these revered traditional rulers mirrored the outpouring of enthusiasm and support from the people.
The sheer number of party loyalists and enthusiastic supporters who lined the streets to greet the incoming governor and his deputy was nothing short of spectacular.
The day was further underscored by a wave of political defections, as numerous members of the APC, ZLP, LP, and other parties announced their allegiance to the PDP, this unprecedented migration of political loyalists to the PDP camp underscores a widespread disillusionment with the current administration’s incompetence, deceit, and failure to deliver on its promises.
Addressing the jubilant crowd, His Excellency (Hon.) Barr. Agboola Alfred Ajayi reaffirmed his commitment to leading Ondo State to new heights of development and progress.
His comprehensive agenda includes economic revitalization, healthcare reform, free education from Primary School to Secondary School and reduction in University tuition fees while reforming the education sector for good , advancement, enhanced security network , agricultural transformation, infrastructure development, and more employment opportunities for youths and graduates in the state and empowerment programmes for the women for their businesses .
The campaign train was further boosted by the presence of prominent dignitaries and PDP leaders in the State including the Chairman of the party in Ondo State , Rt ( Hon ) Bakita Bello who led all members of the State working committee (SWC) on the campaign tour , Olorogun Eddy Olafeso, Chairman of the Ondo PDP Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Dr. Tayo Dairo, Chairman of the PDP Elders Council; Chief (Dr.) Kola Ademujimi; Dr Bode Iwaloye, Hon Clement Faboyede , Director General Operations of the Ondo PDP Gubernatorial Campaign Council among others.
