Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has declared that his Successor in 2027 from the People’s Democratic Party must be between the age of 50 to 52 years. The Rivers State House of Assembly, on Monday, passed the Rivers State Local Government (Amendment) Bill into law by overriding the assent of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The new law, among others, stripped the governor of the power to appoint caretaker committees for local government areas. The Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun says Nigeria is not “mature” for state police. Egbetokun spoke on Monday at a national dialogue on state police organised by the house of representatives in Abuja. The theme of the dialogue is ‘Pathways to Peace: Reimagining Policing in Nigeria’.
