Former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo state and an aspirant for the House of Representatives bye election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon Umar Farouk Arisekola Alao has explained why he remains the most suitable to reclaim victory for the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming election due to the sudden demise of Hon Musiliu Olaide Akinremi Jagaban.
Hon Alao made this declaration on Friday when he met with Leaders and Stakeholders of the APC in the Federal Constituency.
“This is an unusual gathering because no one knew the unfortunate incident that led to the death of Hon Akinremi would happen. We just have to move on and set machineries in place to reclaim the mandate for our great party.
“APC is lucky to have a tested and reliable aspirant like me that has all it takes to win election for the party. This party has invested in me in the past, apart from my pedigree as a former commissioner in the state. I also come from a family that has a cherished history and background.
“Umar Farouk Arisekola Alao is today an household name in Ibadan North Federal Constituency and beyond. You don’t need to waste your energy in the search for a candidate to fly the flag of the party in the forthcoming bye election. Do not forget we do not have the luxury of time to market unknown and unpopular aspirants.
“Also, as leaders of the party, you know more than I do that the caliber of the candidate will greatly play a major role in determining victory for any political party in the forthcoming election.
“No presidential candidate will be on ballot on the day of election. The implication of that is that the electorates are going to the poll to elect individuals. I am confident the electorates in Ibadan North are eager to vote me in as their representative because I have been around for quite some time. I am tested and trusted”. Alao submitted.
He enjoined stakeholders of the party to put the interest of the party above them as they search for a suitable candidate to reclaim victory for the party.
